Sing By Sight - Level 4

On Level 4 of Sing By Sight you will develop a more sophisticated awareness of common melodic patterns and shapes found in Contemporary Commercial Music and be able to sing them on demand.

You will build on the rhythmic work from Level 3, adding 2 new key signatures and the time signature of 6/8 to your library of knowledge as well as adding basic lyrics to your sight singing, leading to an exciting and musical experience.

  • Develop a more sophisticated knowledge of scales, working on more complex melodic movement (eg chromatic movement and pentatonic movement) with an understanding of where this melodic movement fits into Contemporary Commercial Music

  • Become comfortable with more complex 1/8th note (quaver) rhythms, using them in a wide variety of stylistic settings

  • Understand various ways lyrics can be written on a page of music and analyse common problems that can occur when sight singing with lyrics
